Janice McKeel serves as adjunct faculty in the Doctor of Nursing Practice program and guest lectures in the undergraduate nursing program on community health and leadership.
McKeel joined the Lenoir-Rhyne faculty in 2016 as an assistant professor of nursing. Her areas of expertise include nursing leadership and emergency nursing. Her research interests include enhanced education for care coordination among vulnerable populations and the development of cultural competence in undergraduate nursing students. She has also supervised nursing students during clinical experiences at Greater Hickory Cooperative Christian Ministry, a local nonprofit that provides crisis services, including health care and pharmacy services, to Catawba County residents.
Before entering higher education, McKeel served for many years in senior nursing leadership roles in Maryland and North Carolina.
